So why would you consider making your new home in San Diego County? We're located in the greater San Diego - America's Finest City - metropolitan area. Within 25 miles, you, your children and your grandchildren can enjoy a wide range of activities. San Diego is home to: the San Diego Chargers major league football team, the San Diego Padres major league baseball team, the San Diego Zoo, the San Diego Wild Animal Park, Sea World, Balboa Park, Scripps Aquarium, Legoland, Seaport Village, the Gaslamp Quarter, Old Town, plus numerous symphony, opera and theatre companies. We have San Diego State University, San Diego University, and the University of California at San Diego with all of their cultural and educational offerings. We have San Diego bay with its cruise ships, Naval and Marine installations, the beaches, the mountains and the deserts. Plus, we have consistent sun and warm weather which makes you happy just to be alive. You'll never grow bored in San Diego.
Another important consideration for seniors is the medical facilities. We're located in the heart of world class hospitals and medical facilities including: Scripps Clinic, Scripps Hospitals, Pomerado and Sharpe Hospitals and more. If you or your spouse need medical care, this is one of the best places in the country to live.
When it comes to retirement communities, San Diego has many of them; both coastal and inland, every type of home you can imagine. We have single family detached homes, condos, patio homes, villa homes. even manufactured homes and mobile parks which are age-restricted. Prices are surprisingly affordable ranging from the mid-150 to the mid-600s. Obviously, these are not palatial homes but most retirees are not looking to replace their family home. They’re looking for a new lifestyle of leisure and fun and that is what retirement communities are meant to provide: new friends doing fun things at a leisurely pace in a fantastic year-round environment.
As you access the different communities profiled on my website, please keep in mind this is not a comprehensive list but the communities I find most people are readily attracted to. Most of our communities were built in the 1960 – 1990 time period and some are starting to show some wear and tear. Some are even functionally obsolete. However, if you want to see all that is available within a certain price range, you can go to my Property Search page, select Property Search (San Diego County Residential) and create your own search. Just remember to use the drop down available under Features where it says Age Restrictions and touch the 55 and up selection. That way you’ll get all the properties available in your price range in our age restricted 55+ communities.
Or, if you’re not a do-it-yourselfer, send me an email and I’ll create the search for you with regular updates as new homes are offered for sale.
Now, if you’re looking to move to San Diego but you don’t want to live in an age restricted community then what are you doing on this site? Just kidding... You can search for homes anywhere in the county. Just don’t use the age restriction drop down. You should know that we have many wonderful communities with many amenities such as swimming pool, clubhouse, tennis courts and nearby golf without purchasing a home in an age restricted community. After all, the most important thing in my mind is getting into the San Diego lifestyle.
I hope you enjoy the community information, pictures, and videos as well as the customized searches. Let me know if there is anything else you would like to see on this site. And bear with me on half completed projects as this site is a work in progress. Enjoy!
